So when Nick did that painting in December for his eagle project he actually wasn't finished. We thought he would be because his project hit over 100 hours and he had added that part to his original project due to the committee not thinking this one would take 100 hours. They were right about that. They wanted Nick to finish the full project he committed to do so we had to wait several months for warm weather since this painting project had to be done outdoors. This was really frustrating for him because he missed getting his eagle with 3 other boys (including his brother) but I think it was good because it taught him a little bit about patience, perserverance and following-through. All good things you want your kids to learn. He got the stencils done for the outdoor keyboard and map and then it just kept raining. We were really worried he was never going to have an opportunity to actually go and paint the thing. Then since the rain really got bad, we ended up with record-breaking flooding and the kids got the ENTIRE week last week off school. Only thing is, the weather was gorgeous all week, just too many roads were blocked for busses to run-- So he took advantage of the time off and finally FINISHED his Eagle project.

I think it turned out really well and the principal really liked it. Let's hope the teachers can come up with some creative ways for the kids to use the outlines. 
This is Nick putting all the stencils in the trash can. They were pretty messed up by the time he finished with them but--Whew! What a relief!

Wow! That looks like quite the project. I wouldn't even know how to begin making a stencil that size. It looks awesome! Too bad he threw them all away, that could come in handy at another school... :)
