They grow up too fast

My 13 year old son has a friend who mentioned that a girl in their class had recently broken up with her boyfriend so she was single and available again. I couldn’t stop myself as I replied to him, “I think all of you are still single”. When did teenagers as young as 13 start referring to themselves in such serious relationshipial (Yes, I made that word up) terms? Even adults that date are single until they are engaged. Be kids just a little longer please.
